What is a Direct Service Professional?

A Direct Service Professional is often the heart of our team.  As a DSP you will be responsible for the care of the individuals we serve in their homes and out in the community.  DSP's represent our company at all times and are dedicated to providing the best services possible to the ones we serve. 

Some of the job duties include, but are not limited to:
Providing emergency support when necessary
  • Participate as a team member
  • Advocacy
  • Home and Community Personal Care and Assistance 
  • Assist individuals in supporting their goals
  • Assist with daily living skills such as personal hygiene care, shopping, laundry and meal preparation
  • Accurate and timely medication administration
  • Transportation to doctor appointments, other programs, employment, etc.
  • Documentation 
  • Ability to  implement and Individual Support Plan (ISP) & POC (Plan of Care)
  • Ability to provide an overall support of the individuals 
  • Ensure the health and safety of individuals at all times.
 
  • ​Our pay for employee pay ranges  based on experience, performance, and placement.  When applicable we have on call-onsite pay, mileage reimbursement, and other benefits. Most DSP's will have a pay range of $15-$19  per hour. Opportunities for advancement also includes opportunities for pay increase and additional incentives. 


Minimum Requirements for DSP include:
  • Valid drivers license
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Ability to pass drug screenings when requested
  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Willingness and ability to complete online and in person training when requested.
  • Valid and Current First Aid/CPR/AED  from American Red Cross or equivalent in person training
  • Ability to pass background screenings
  • Ability to Submit a drivers abstract when requested
  • Ability to read and write the English Language
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • The desire to assist the individuals in our care.
  • Med 1, 2, and/or 3 certifications preferred but not required
  • Behavior Modification/Redirection Certification, this is  not required but preferred.


PRN Community Inclusion Staff
Job Overview
We are seeking PRN DSP's for our Community Inclusion respite program. Our Community Inclusion staff will work 2-6 hours a day 2-4 days a week which may include weekdays and weekends. These hours are typically afternoons during the week and flexible on weekends. As a Direct Care Professional, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities that are in in need by helping them with their daily activities and ensuring their well-being and going out into the community for entertainment and wellness. These schedules may be flexible or set!
All Requirements must be met.
Have a valid CPR and 1st aid certification
  • Experience or willingness to learn how to use adaptive equipment such as hoyer's.
  • Ability and willingness to interact with individuals with disabilities
  • Proficiency in the written and spoken English Language
  • Ability and willingness to safely transfer and transport clients as needed.
  • Ability to work independently in clients homes
  • Willingness to work in homes that may have pets.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Have reliable transportation, car insurance, and driving record with less than 6 points.
  • Be able and willing to undergo background and drug screening.
  • Must be willing to transport clients in personal vehicles with the option of mileage reimbursement.
  • High school diploma or equivalent ,
  • Social Security Card and Birth Certificate
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • We are professional, inclusive, supportive, and our goal is to provide quality services to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental, and physical disabilities. We are seeking quality DSP's for Mahoning and Trumbull County to help support our individuals who need assistance.
    Some Responsibilities:
    - Assist individuals with daily activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, community integration, and other activities.
    - Provide support for individuals as outline by service plans.
    - Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals by following established protocols and procedures
    - Promote independence and encourage individuals to participate in community activities
    - Clear and effective communication and documentation practices
    - Respect and uphold the rights of clients and advocacy
    -Take individuals out into the community and participate in activities
