What is a Direct Service Professional?

A Direct Service Professional is often the heart of our team.  As a DSP you will be responsible for the care of the individuals we serve in their homes and out in the community.  DSP's represent our company at all times and are dedicated to providing the best services possible to the ones we serve. 

Some of the job duties include, but are not limited to:

Providing emergency support when necessary
  • Participate as a team member
  • Advocacy
  • Home and Community Personal Care and Assistance 
  • Assist individuals in supporting their goals
  • Assist with daily living skills such as personal hygiene care, shopping, laundry and meal preparation
  • Accurate and timely medication administration
  • Transportation to doctor appointments, other programs, employment, etc.
  • Documentation 
  • Ability to  implement and Individual Support Plan (ISP) & POC (Plan of Care)
  • Ability to provide an overall support of the individuals 
  • Ensure the health and safety of individuals at all times.
 
  • ​Our pay for employee pay ranges  based on experience, performance, and placement.  When applicable we have on call-onsite pay, mileage reimbursement, and other benefits. Most DSP's will have a pay range of 12.00 -15.00  per hour. Opportunities for advancement also includes opportunities for pay increase and additional incentives. 


Minimum Requirements for DSP include:
  • Valid drivers license
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Ability to pass drug screenings when requested
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Willingness and ability to complete online and in person training when requested.
  • Valid and Current First Aid/CPR/AED  from American Red Cross or equivalent in person training
  • Ability to pass background screenings
  • Ability to Submit a drivers abstract when requested
  • Ability to read and write the English Language
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • The desire to assist the individuals in our care.
  • Med 1, 2, and/or 3 certifications preferred but not required
  • Behavior Modification/Redirection Certification, this is  not required but preferred.

*****House Managers, Shift Supervisors, and other positions are typically hired from within the company and promoted based on performance after being a DSP.  *****
